3rd Annual Netball Alberta Inter-School Tournament 2017
Netball Alberta hosted its third annual Inter-School Tournament on Saturday March 11th, 2017, occupying the Bishop O’Byrne and Cardel Rec Courts at Cardel Rec South. Thank you to everyone in attendance for making the tournament such a success!
Fifteen teams faced off during a total of thirty-one games among the two divisions, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship and netball skill acquired through Netball Alberta school clinics and the tutelage of their committed teachers. We were excited to see five new schools participating this year, with those schools from last year not in attendance, hosting intra-school games and tournaments of their own.
Netball Alberta’s wonderful veteran and first-time coaches alike imparted their wisdom on these new players, umpired games, rang the cowbell with diligence and lead newbie scorekeepers with mastery in the midst of a tremendous number of spectators and players filling every nook and cranny of the gym and corridors. It was lovely to see many mother-daughter coaching pairings this tournament passing on the legacy of netball expertise. We were so overwhelmed to see an amazing number of parent supporters present throughout the day to watch their children excel in a new sport! The echoing cheers from parents and fellow students remind us all at Netball Alberta why we do what we do. It was fantastic to see each player improve throughout the day and give the competition their all!
Thank you to our Development Officer, Rachel Pasek, for all of her hard work and fantastic organization and thank you to our invaluable volunteers:
Netball Alberta Casino 2017
It's that time again!
Netball Alberta's most important fundraiser will be at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino on June 2 & 3, 2017. We have to fill all the volunteer positions for those two days. The event earns the organization approximately $78 000. This is vital to the programs we offer and the growth of our sport in Alberta.
This is such an easy and fun way for our players and parents to give back to this fantastic organization. Every position is guided through every step, there is no stress nor pressure.
All traveling players, or parents of under age traveling players, have an obligation to take at least one shift during the casino. If you want a certain shift, day or position, get your name in fast!
It is also a great opportunity for some time out with your friends or partner! For the available shifts, please visit our Fundraising page.
If you are able to take a shift, please email Corey at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Netball Alberta Summer Camp 2017
This is your child's opportunity to discover, or continue developing, a passion for netball, while making new friends, and enjoying the summer sun. Through a variety of indoor and outdoor team building activities, skill-building games, and of course plenty of netball, campers will develop skills that will make them experienced netballers in just a week.
The camp will be coached by our extremely qualified School Clinician, Rachel Pasek, who has been coaching netball for 11 years, including our provincial U23 team. She will be joined by junior coaches from our Youth Development Squad. They will share their love for this fast, strategic sport while helping the players create life-long memories and increase their skills on the court.
