Calgary Fall & Winter League Information

The first half of this League starts in the Fall, running from mid-September through to mid-December, with a Fall tournament held in November. The League breaks over the Christmas holidays and the second half resumes as the Winter League beginning in mid-January and finishes in March. A tournament and banquet concludes the end of this season.

Netball Alberta Fall/Winter Leagues

Fall/Winter Youth League

The Calgary Youth League is made up of two divisions but the age categories for U12 and U16 are guidelines only and players may be assigned to a different division based on their ability.

U12 (Junior B) – ages 9 to 11, boys and girls

Includes: training once a week, one game every Sunday at 5:00 pm, at Southland Leisure Centre.

Training locations/times choices:

  • Hull House Mondays 5:30 – 6:30 pm September - March


Uniform: Players wear own white t-shirt & black shorts (no skirt deposit required).

  • U16 (Junior A) – ages 12 to 15, boys and girls

Includes: training once a week, one game every Sunday at 6:00 pm, at Southland Leisure Centre, one tournament in November and one tournament in March.

Training locations/times:

  • Hull House Mondays 6:30 – 8:00 pm starting Monday January 9


Uniform: Female players will be allocated a team skirt (for which a $50 skirt deposit will be required). Wear with a  white t-shirt. Boys wear black shorts and a white t-shirt.

Fall/Winter Adult League

The Calgary Senior League is made up of Senior A & Senior B divisions and the Youth Development Squad.

Senior A & B League

  • Includes League participation September 2017 through March 2018 and Netball Alberta's tournament entry fees for a tournament in November and one in March.
  • Any Senior player that joins a Training Squad will be required to pay additional fees for Training Programs, to be advised and collected once the Training Program starts.
  • Senior B games are at Southland on Sundays between 7:00 - 10:00 pm OR at Vivo on Wednesdays between 7:30 - 9:30 pm.

Youth Development Squadby invitation only

Includes: training twice a week, one game Sunday at Southland Leisure Centre between 7:00 - 10:00 pm OR Wednesdays at Vivo between 7:30 - 9:30 pm, plus one tournament in November and one tournament in March.

The Youth Development Squad (Cygnets & Goslings) is by invitation as selected by Executive and Coaches. If players are selected to be moved up from the U16 League into the Youth Development Squad (playing in the Senior B division) they will be required to submit the difference in League and Training Program fees as applicable.

Evaluations (Fall/Winter League Only)

  • It is advised that all U16, YDS and senior registrants attend the evaluation they are invited to, to help in fair and competitive team selections.
  • If you are new to Netball Alberta and don't know whether you should register for the Senior League A or B division, please contact us for details and attend an evaluation.
  • For the first evaluation of the season, new players should attend the age appropriate evaluation. Past players should attend evaluations for the level they played at last season.



Skirt Deposit (for Junior A Fall/Winter only)

  • Skirt deposit cheques for $50.00 should be written separately to your registration fees and dated March 31, 2018. 
  • Cheques will be destroyed once the skirt is returned to your team coach.
  • Cheques will be deposited on April 1st, 2018 for all skirts not returned.
  • Skirt deposit does not apply to males in mixed teams, males to wear black shorts and white t-shirt.

Senior Uniform

There will be no skirts for Senior A or B players. Senior players will be expected to wear their own athletic attire consisting of white tops and black bottoms. The tops must be plain white and the bottoms must be plain black (with no prominent designs, words, stripes, or colour etc). Clothing must be sportswear appropriate.

Other Important Information

League Rule regarding Jewelry

There will be no taping of jewelry allowed, except for a wedding ring and medical bracelet(s). All piercings to be removed prior to taking to the court (no exceptions).
